3 x Super Cottage Renovations for 2023

Three more cottagetastic changes to bring comfort and wow factor to your cottage stays at Trenannick Farm Cottages for the year ahead …

Our regular guests will know that since spring 2020 we have undertaken some pretty mammoth renovations here at Trenannick Farm Cottages.  Our simple ethos being to make our guests more comfortable.

Everybody wants a simpler life (us included) and our self-catering holiday cottages have been further improved to provide you and your family with modern amenities whilst retaining the charm and appeal of a Cornish cottage.

Of course there’s a whole lot of stuff that goes on in the background that is basically hidden from view but essential to your safety and welfare that we’ve attended to including

  • an integrated smoke alarm system
  • complete electrics testing
  • replacement intelligent radiators and night storage heaters
  • new plumbing
  • loft insulation
  • re-location of the EV charger point

It’s all been pretty demanding and yes I guess not the sexiest of subjects, but needs must!

In more exciting news here’s a brief of what’s new and of what  you  can  see  and  experience…

Home Comforts

You can now relax with our new contemporary log burning stoves that have replaced the vintage traditional mixed fuel fires in The Roundhouse, Beech, Pond Meadow and Little Leighs Cottages.

These new stoves are safer and much easier to use than the old traditional ones, and give so much more joy!!  After all who doesn’t love to relax and stare into the flames of a real fire?

These new British made wood burning stoves are much more environmentally friendly than the old versions and they give off far more heat whilst being way more efficient. Perhaps, not that essential for a summer holiday (we hope) but spot-on for all our guests that choose a cosy cottage stay during the spring, autumn and winter months.  All the chimneys have been re-lined and re-capped too so we’re looking very stylish inside and out.

“Proper job” as the Cornish would say.

Little Leighs

From Shore to Shower

Say hello to modern family shower room facilities with new Mira low water pressure showers to provide you with better water pressure and a great shower.  There is also new shiny built-in sanitary-ware with storage that is useful for your bathing accessories.

Ash walk in shower room

Ash Cottage now has a spacious beautiful walk in shower and modern amenities too.  Perfect for when you bring the kids home complete with the beach …

This is the final bathroom refurbishment across our 5 cottages – our own bathroom is next!

Paw-fection

Our on-going quest is to make our guests bringing their dogs away on holiday easier.

We canvassed your opinion over the last 12 months and made a significant change.  Putting our best foot forward you now have modern grey Kendal oak hard flooring professionally installed seamlessly throughout the living areas in Pond Meadow and Little Leighs Cottages.  The kitchen tiles removed, the old carpets replaced and the walls re-painted.

Pond Meadow

The slate hearth footprint is now smaller so there’s more space for the dog (or you) to lie down and relax in front of the fire.

There’s also a new wall-mounted companion set so there’s no danger of the dog knocking them over anymore either and, no more stress of muddy carpets after a great day out enjoying the elements!

Of course, well-behaved dogs are accepted in all of our cottages with the exception of Ash Cottage.

Interestingly, whilst chatting to the flooring fitters, we were told that about 75% of all the fittings they do now are for hard floors rather than carpets – quite an eye opener.  Still, we opted for new carpets in the bedrooms – honesty hate a cold floor in the middle of the night!

Our verdict: stylish and practical.

Honestly, we think you’ll love what we’ve done in the cottages but you’re the best judge and we look forward to welcoming you.
