Lots of walks, open countryside, beaches and dog-friendly places to enjoy

No great Cornish adventure is complete without the pooch and the Tamar Valley is the ideal starting point for your dog friendly escape. We’re surrounded by mile after mile of glorious countryside to explore and with the beaches and moors within such easy reach, you’ll be spoilt for choice!

The great news is that many of the best attractions in Cornwall are dog-friendly

We welcome dogs with open arms South of the border and you’ll find so many of our famous attractions are open to you and your four legged friend. Of course our beaches and moorland are fantastic to explore but when planning your days out, think outside the box. The Eden Project, Lands End, Lappa Valley, The Mince Theatre and so many more are dog friendly.

Check with local beaches on when and where you can take your dog during the summer

Whilst of course there are seasonal dog bans on some beaches during the summer months, there are still plenty of options to let your furry friend cool off in the sea – the Southern end of long Widemouth Bay is dog friendly all year round, as is the beach at Summerleaze and down at Tintagel. Make sure you check before you head out to avoid disappointment.

If you’re looking for a dog friendly place to eat then you’re in luck

The Tamar Valley is full of gorgeous country pubs to relax in with your hound at the end of an adventure filled day in Cornwall. Chill in the beer garden in Summer or by a roaring fire in the depths of winter, there’s always a local ale to enjoy along the way. If you’re heading into town, you’ll find coffee shops, delis, bistros and restaurants ready to welcome you and the dog too.

How much will your dog love walks on the Moor? With unlimited space, we think quite a lot

The Tamar Valley sits on the edge of the vast rugged expanse of Dartmoor: the ultimate playground for you and the dog too. Miles of trails to discover, granite tors to clamber over and woodland to get lost in for a while. Trenannick is also under half an hour away from Bodmin Moor so you can take your pick of wilderness to roam!

The South West Coast Path has to be the ultimate dog walk for everyone

The South West Coast Path is 630 miles long and we’re certain we have the most stunning stretches of it right here on the North Coast. Pack your walking boots and a picnic and head out along the coast path, exploring those beautifully wild clifftops and hidden coves of North Cornwall.
